Campaign Story

Adam & I met later in life—he was 37 and I was 36—and married shortly thereafter, at 38 and 39, with the shared dream of building a family. From the very beginning of our marriage, we longed to bring a child into our lives. By a stroke of luck, we were able to welcome our first child when I was 39—a joy beyond words, a fulfillment of a dream we had both held close for many years.

Now, at 42, we are confronting infertility. Despite our deep desire and persistent efforts for the last two years, we’ve been unable to conceive a second child naturally. The window for me to have another biological child is closing rapidly, and we are faced with the difficult choice of accepting the possibility of never expanding our family or pursuing IVF—a path that is financially beyond our reach.

Our hope for a second child goes beyond our own desire. It stems from a profound understanding of the lifelong value of sibling relationships. I’m incredibly close to my brother, who has Cystic Fibrosis. His presence has been a gift in my life, teaching me resilience, compassion, and the immeasurable power of sibling love—even as I feel the weight of knowing his years are limited. I cannot imagine my life without him. Similarly, my husband is deeply bonded with his two brothers. They have endured significant loss together—the death of their father when he was only 11 years old, the death of their mother last year, and the trauma of his oldest brother’s liver failure, thankfully resolved through a transplant. These experiences have been devastating, yet they have relied on each other, finding comfort and strength in their sibling bond.

We dream of giving our first child the same gift—a sibling to love, to share life’s joys and challenges with, and to lean on for support long after we are gone. We want our child to experience the profound connection that only a sibling can provide, a bond that will endure through life’s highs and lows.

The cost of IVF is a significant barrier, and without assistance, this opportunity may remain out of reach. Your support would not only make treatment possible but would give our family the chance to grow in the most meaningful way imaginable, ensuring our first child has a lifelong companion and our family legacy of love continues.

We approach this fundraiser with gratitude and hope, understanding the generosity and compassion required to support families facing infertility. Thank you sincerely for your time, consideration, and for your generosity to help families like ours.
